Get to know the insurance cover and deductible
Make sure CDW/TP are included, know the deductible and what's not covered (windows/tires/undercarriage). Consider deductible reduction/waiver and get confirmation for any damage/towing to avoid charges.
Prepare for deposit and suitable credit card
Bring a physical credit card in the primary driver's name with available credit; debit/Prepaid is usually not accepted. Expect deposit block and release after return, which may take several business days.
Plan border crossings and road tolls
Request prior approval for traveling to neighboring countries or returning in another city. Check vignettes, toll roads, and electronic tag and charges; be sure to pay correctly and keep receipts in case of fines.
Check mileage and additional drivers
Check if mileage is unlimited or limited and what the cost is for an additional kilometer. Add an additional driver only in the contract and meet the age/experience requirements for insurance coverage to be valid.
